Not very nice cards at all. The first thing that came to mind was being stuck between a rock and a hard place. And with the Heart being the thing that’s stuck, it’s likely an emotional matter or something that is important to me emotionally.

Coffin+Heart can be talking about grief, worries, fright, or some kind of emotional trauma. Leading up to Mountain, it doesn’t look optimistic either as whatever issue it’s talking about doesn’t look like it’d be ending or solved yet in the near future. I’m getting the feeling of ramming up against the wall… in other words, no solution to the Coffin+Heart.

Those were my initial thoughts, but to explore all possibilities, these cards could also be talking about an ending (Coffin) in something related to the matters of the Heart. Mountain could then be talking about a period of overcoming the difficulties… or it could even be a lull that usually comes after something ending. There could be waiting or the need for patience involved. Reading Coffin+Mountain together could signify a trying or desolate period.

Another take, which Treppner speaks of for the Coffin+Heart, is being lovesick for a short period of time. However, with Mountain coming after that, it would extend that period which could then bring about a period of loneliness.

Taking all those possible meanings in, I can discount the last as I’m not in the midst of being lovesick. The 2nd interpretation could apply to the overall stage that I’m currently at in my life where something has ended but I haven’t quite moved across that huge mountain yet. However, I think it’s the 1st interpretation that the cards are talking about for today, especially when I take the underlying Dog into consideration.

Without going into specifics, I’ve recently been highly worried about a very good friend of mine (Dog). This worry escalated to the peak today due to several reasons, and I did experience a bit of a fright regarding this friend. The worries have indeed not ended yet, and I do feel like I’m ramming up against a mountain. As of right now, I’m completely stuck and can see no solution regarding the issue… and it feels like all I can do is wait even though it’s causing me quite a bit of grief.

I did a few readings on this issue, so I’ll be posting those on the blog soon (just not today because I’m short on time). I just wanted to add this bit here for now, as the cards definitely do apply to how my day went.
