As mentioned recently, I finally took out my Housewives Tarot and began using them a bit. I’ll admit it’s not usually the type of deck I would buy, but I kept seeing a few cards here or there that I really liked so I decided to give it a try when I spotted a very nice discount. It’s the first “quirky” deck that has caught my eye enough for me to want to buy it, and I don’t regret the purchase one bit. In fact, I think I ended up liking it a lot more than I had expected to when I bought it.

The retail price for this deck is listed at $16.95, but I think Amazon’s currently selling it for $11.53 or you can also purchase it through the deck’s official site for $14.95. And you know what? I’m really surprised that the deck isn’t more expensive, because it’s got to be the best packaged Tarot deck I’ve seen to date.
The deck comes in a really sturdy (read: great quality) box that’s also perfectly designed to match the style and theme of the deck. Just looking at the box made me smile, and every side of the box (inside and out) has something quirky on it too. Here’s the top and front view:

I would’ve shown more shots of other panels of the box too, but I’d be filling this post up with gazillions of photos if I did. They really paid a lot of attention to every single inch of the packaging and presentation!
Opening the box, you get index card dividers for the cards and the book. Even these dividers were designed beautifully with different images on the front and recipes on the backside for stuff like Divinated Eggs and Mystical Martini.

The deck comes with an awesome instruction book too- definitely not the usual LWB. I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed reading the whole thing, including the meanings of all the cards. Not only was the book filled with funny stories, examples, and cute useful spreads… the meanings actually hold its own weight well. Here’s an example of the meaning the book gives for the Death card:
Something is rotten. The expiration has passed and the food has spoiled! You may be reluctant to throw it away, and you may try to convince yourself that a little mold never hurt anyone, but only a fool would dare eat food riddled with botulism. No matter how many preservatives are added, everything eventually goes stale. The Death card may seem grim, but its message is a positive one: This ending is necessary to make a fresh beginning and a tastier future.
To give you an idea, here are 3 examples of cards from the Major Arcana that I love. The middle one is Death and what the above excerpt is describing.

Aren’t the cards hilarious? And before I forget to mention, I love the card stock too. It’s sturdy and matte, printed on good quality card stock with a really nice finish. The colors are beautiful too.
Okay, I think I’m beginning to sound kinda repetitive here… lol. I guess I just didn’t expect to be so blown away by this deck. You can really tell that a lot of thought was put into this deck- that it wasn’t just shoved out like so many other decks these days. The attention to detail as a whole is amazing, and the little hidden meanings in the cards’ portrayal makes it a good reading deck as well. Again, all something I wasn’t expecting to find out of a funny and quirky-themed deck like this one.
A few more things to note. The deck was reordered in one aspect, namely the High Priestess is the 4th card here with the Empress and Emperor as the 2nd and 3rd card. Wands are still called wands, but brooms, mops, and brushes are used to depict them. Swords are mostly the different types of knives you can find around the house. You’ll find various glasses of all shapes and sizes (including martini glasses) for Cups and dinner-ware for Pentacles. :D
Overall, if you can’t already tell, I’m very happy with this purchase and just wanted to share my thoughts on it a bit. I’ve done a few readings with it already, and for me so far, it’s been the type of deck that likes to reprimand me quite a bit- which is a good thing. I need that slap on the head sometimes…or often. ;) Don’t be fooled by its fun personality though. I’ve found that it can give very accurate readings.
Thank you for sharing! The tarot is beautiful! I like This is a wonderful article!it! I will buy!
