Intro Reading: My Lenormand Journey

Deck: Blue Owl - Lenormand
Spread: General 3-Card Draw

Whenever I get a new tarot deck, I have a habit of doing a quick “intro” throw of cards to tell me a little about my relationship with said deck. It’s just something I do to sort of introduce myself to the new deck and vice versa… a little silly, I know! So after looking through the Lenormand cards and shuffling with them for a bit, I thought I’d do something similar with them. I decided to draw 3 cards as an overall outlook on my journey into the Lenormand- no real positions but with an intent to read them chronologically, like an actual journey.

Here’s what I got:

34 Fish21 Mountain16 Stars
The cards are: 34 Fish + 21 Mountain + 16 Stars

Hmm, okay, that Mountain in the middle sure isn’t encouraging, but the Stars at the end is. Anyhow, I’m going to jump right in and give this a shot. The initial message I got was that it would be a slow and somewhat difficult journey (Mountain), but I would come out of it successfully (Star). The Fish drew a blank for me at first, so I went hunting a little for interpretations both online and from Sylvie’s book. I ended up with a variety of meanings talking about business and finance, which I don’t feel is applicable here. Sylvie’s book also casually mentioned something about independence, adventures, and entrepreneurship, so here’s me giving these 3 cards a bit of a deeper look…

The Fish could be simply talking about me starting off on my new adventure with the Lenormand, though I think the independent aspect of it resonates with me as well. While I know that most people recommend finding a system and sticking through it as a beginner first, I tend to be the kind of person who respond better by absorbing everything from as many sources as I can while finding my own method of doing things. This tends to slow me down in the “learning process” due to conflicting systems and beliefs (likely what the Mountain could be saying), but I find that in the long run, it’s better because I would’ve ended up with a method that ultimately works best with and for me. So while the Mountain may speak of obstacles, it isn’t something that I’m particularly surprised with or discouraged by- after all, I didn’t pick up the Lenormand thinking that I’d master the language overnight!

Now, the Star I’m definitely quite happy to see as the last card to appear, because it’s almost speaking to me as an encouragement that I would come out of it for the better and perhaps a confirmation that I should indeed approach my study of the Lenormand in a Fish manner even though there’s that Mountain in the middle. The Star, from what I’m reading, is also a card of clarity, esotericism, and even psychic talents so this is looking optimistic if it’s to be the final result.

Oddly enough, this simple 3-card draw answered a lot of internal doubts and questions about how I should really be approaching my studies in the Lenormand, so I’m kind of connecting with the message on a deeper level than just the surface meaning. Here’s to the start of my Lenormand journey! :)
