About Daily Residue

Hello! Welcome to Daily Residue, Téa’s personal cartomancy blog / journal for various Cartomancy interests. This blog initially started off with an intention to focus on the use of Tarot Cards and my leap into the world of the Lenormand Oracle, but being that I have a great love for cards, I think it’s more likely that the posts would cover all kinds of card systems and oracles that I also use. ;)

About me and the cards…

Ever since I was really young, I had been drawn to many metaphysical tools and dabbled in whatever I could get my hands on as a child. My favorite, though, had always been cards. My mother used to read with regular playing cards, so that was something I picked up at a young age, along with a few oracle cards that I managed to get a hold of.

I fell in love with Tarot cards quite early on in my life (back in the 80s) and have been a serious student of the Tarot since. For a long time, Tarot became the primary tool that I had focused on most in terms of cartomancy. It wasn’t until the more recent years did I rediscover my other cards and also began once more to truly look into other cartomancy systems. What a discovery that was too! And for a card lover such as myself, there’s really no end in sight now that I’ve leapt into the big big pool. :p

I also have a work-in-progress deck that I’m creating. It’s my dream to one day get it published along with a book or two. Here’s to hoping. :)

About me and this blog…

At its heart, this blog was created from my love of journaling about the cards and my experience with them. I’ve also found that it’s one of the greatest and fun ways to build a better understanding of the cards, which I had always thought is a never-ending process.

I wish, as well, that through this process, I can also share my knowledge with others in hopes that my experiences can in turn benefit those with an interest in cards too. And while this blog is largely for my personal enjoyment, I also hope that by making available online, it can help me connect with other cartomancers out there- whether to share the interest or to learn from one another.

That said, I highly welcome and appreciate any insights, thoughts, or even disagreements on my posts here. While there would always be traditional systems and meanings, I’d like to think we all contribute a little of ourselves into the cards as well. At the end of the day, the cards are unique to each of us, but that’s part of what makes it so interesting. :)

All in all, please enjoy your visit, and thank you for stopping by!

About getting readings from me…

I started reading professionally around early 2002 or so (mainly with the Tarot). While I do read professionally now, I don’t actively advertise it as it’s not what I consider my actual job. In most cases, the people I read for tend to come through someone’s recommendation, which is why I can often trace a client of mine back to someone I had given a reading to before.

I used to read in exchange for a dollar (my mother had always been adamant about getting something in return for a reading as it’s a belief of hers that readings given completely free is not good for me spiritually). Eventually, I was getting overwhelmed by too many requests from friends’ co-workers, people’s family members, acquaintances and branching out to more referrals from there. It became very tiring as I simply did not have the time or the energy to give complete strangers so many hours of my free time reading for them. It was for this reason (among a few others) that I decided to read “professionally” and charge a real fee.

I thought I should be up front about that in case someone wanted to obtain a reading from me. If you would like to know more about how I charge (either an online reading, in person or via email), please contact me at tea@graychalk.com. I would appreciate it if you could please include a relevant subject. It helps ensure prompt reply from me as I really get a lot of emails a day. Thank you!
